On Sunday 26 April, the three-day studbook registration for the 2023 cohort of fillies concluded with an awards ceremony. The 49 first-class young mares striding into the hall, led by their handlers and taking their places with such poise and composure, were an impressive sight. Yet it was also an emotional moment, the culmination of all their hard work, before the eagerly awaited results were announced and the final ranking revealed.
Over the preceding two days, 156 Haflinger and 18 Noriker young mares had been presented to the breed experts – Lapo Braschi, Günter Dejori, Guido Grazioli and Paolo Rizzi for the Haflinger breed, and Fabio Damuzzo and Edmund Zitturi for the Noriker breed – to be expertly and conscientiously evaluated. It was once again an all-round successful show with lots of excitement and beautiful pictures, a breeding event that exists in this form only in South Tyrol.
