The 23rd South Tyrolean Foal Championship at the Alps Coliseum in Egna/Neumarkt is now history. Twenty-three colts and thirty-six fillies took part – they had been selected in advance from almost 450 registered foals and presented themselves to the jury, consisting of members of the South Tyrolean Breeding Commission (Peter Gruber and Dr Andrea Sgambati), and guest judge Lothar Zebisch. It was an astonishing show that demonstrated the remarkable standard of South Tyrolean Haflinger breeding.
LINA, owned by Wolfgang and Berta Wendlinger from Chiusa/Klausen, was named winner in the filly category, while the coveted ribbon in the colt category went to MERLOT HL-L, owned by Hans Lunger from Collepietra/Steinegg.
For the first time, a foal auction was held as part of the South Tyrol Foal Championship, with the option of bidding on site and online. The results are remarkable: 21 foals were offered and found new owners in South Tyrol, Germany, Belgium and France.
The most beautiful fillies: (from right) winner LINA BZ32705 (owners: Wolfgang & Berta Wendlinger), runner-up LENI BZ32604 (owner: Markus Pflug), 3rd place LÖWENHERZ BZ32555 (owner: Michael Warger), 4th place LUME BZ32727 (owner: Simon Dapoz) and 5th place LILOU ROYAL BZ32640 (owner: Katja Müller)
