After three busy days filled to the brim with celebrations and events, on 2 June the 2024 Haflinger Festival concluded with a grand award ceremony for the winners of the Haflinger County Show and accolades for a number of individuals who have distinguished themselves for their contribution to the breed.
The return to Sluderno/Schluderns, where the founder of the Haflinger breed – Folie 249 – was born 150 years ago, was also a true journey back to the roots of the breed – a recurrent theme throughout the entire event, which masterfully portrayed the ever-growing enthusiasm for the Haflinger to a wide audience: In addition to the large Haflinger County Show with a total 12 show classes featuring South Tyrol’s XXXX most beautiful Haflingers alongside spectacular acts and performances, it was above all the grand procession that delighted the crowds: With a whopping CCCC HORSES GHGJHG parading through the streets and alleyways of Sluderno/Schluderns, it was a foray into the history of the breed and impressively illustrated the great passion with which South Tyroleans present “their Haflingers”.
