After a long summer grazing on lush green pastures at high altitudes without a single care in the world, Haflinger and Noriker foals all over South Tyrol are due for the very first milestone of their career in breeding: the annual appraisal of foals. Traditionally, the first edition takes place in early September in the Val Sarentino/Sarntal valley – at the annual village fair known as Sarner Kirchtag. During the following ten dates, appraisal events are then held across all of South Tyrol.

Selection of candidates for the Foal Championship and Auction

The 23^rd South Tyrolean Foal Championship will take place on Saturday 4 October at the Alps Coliseum Equestrian Centre in Egna/Neumarkt. The best foals are selected exclusively during the appraisal of foals. Participation in the South Tyrolean Foal Championship is extremely popular - breeders from outside South Tyrol who are members of the Federation can also take part, as long as the foals are presented for their appraisal in South Tyrol. Foals who take part at the Foal Championship and some selected foals are admitted to the Foal Auction. Registration for the Foal Auction takes place on the day of the appraisal of foals.
